Grand Opening Costa Mesa
Almond Surfboards is opening a new retail store at 1720 Santa Ana Ave. #A Costa Mesa, CA. (two blocks from where I grew up)
If you are at all familiar with Sidecar Doughnuts, Pie Not, Heritage Mercantile or the newly re-done Eastside Mini Mart, those are our new neighbors.
In the new Almond Surfboards retail store, you can expect to find more of our surfboards, and a more-focused range of our apparel. We will be introducing some very select products from very special friends of ours; things that add to the overall experience here. We have a fairly sizable installation from Krochet Kids Intl., beach towels from Slowtide, art from Wolfgang Bloch, select products from Woolrich, hats from Yellow 108, Bikes from Linus, and a handful of new essentials that are in the works.
Almond has never been about creating a surf brand. Almond has always been about creating a brand of specific values, and using surfboards as a means to exemplify those values. And we’re excited for the role that this retail space can play in that aim, being right here in the Eastside Costa Mesa neighborhood.
When we opened the first Almond Surfboards store, I was 22 years old, and over-flowing with excitement about surfing, discovering-what-craftsmanship-truly-entailed, made-in-California products, our community of friends, and beautiful resin tints. We set out to create a brand that reflected my excitement for these things, and I wanted to share that brand with anyone who was willing to listen. For the last seven years, we have been working as a small team to refine and develop that original vision, and put into action some of those initial values. In many cases we have far exceeded my wildest dreams for what Almond could become.
I am now approaching my 30th birthday; my values and interests have evolved and grown. As we move to Eastside Costa Mesa, and open our new retail space, I want to use this as an opportunity to introduce a few new layers to the mix. Almond Surfboards will always be at the core of what we do, but this space will also serve as a platform for us to explore some new themes, and other products we’re excited about. I believe that we live in a fascinating world, full of interesting people and incredible possibilities.
As a brand, our aim is to continue to make products that have lasting value, and we want to educate our customers about the process. We are so grateful to get to do what we do, and I truly believe this will be the best iteration of Almond yet.
Join us at: 1720 Santa Ana Ave. #A in Costa Mesa, CA for the next chapter in our story.
*****We will be hosting a Grand Opening celebration and Open House this Thursday, the 19th, from 5-8 pm. Come and enjoy a beer and see what we have been up to recently.*****
