What if Longevity is the Goal?

Surfing often gets measured in terms of peak moments—the best wave of your life, the biggest turn, or the cleanest barrel. But for most of us, the real test is whether we’re still paddling out five, ten, or twenty years from now.
Longevity in Surfing
A lot of our customers are looking for ways to keep surfing as long as they can. One review stood out to me:
“At 50 years old I took up surfing… I found the R-Series Joy and it has made all the difference in the world—I can finally catch some waves.”
Another surfer shared:
“I’m pushing 50 and had my doubts. Took this board to Costa Rica and had an absolute blast. I’ll be ordering another Almond for sure.”
These stories are reminders that the right equipment can make surfing enjoyable again—even if your paddle strength isn’t what it used to be, or you’ve taken a long break from the water.
Longevity in Equipment
The boards themselves matter too. We’ve heard from people who have surfed their Almonds for years, and from surf schools and rental fleets that need equipment to last under constant use.
“We really like these boards. They withstand abuse from renters… We’ve added more to our fleet since our first order, so maybe that’s the real test.”
Or from another customer:
“Bought this board a few years ago as a summer groveler… it’s become my daily driver. Even though it’s a foamy, I’ve had tons of fun—and the deck has been perfect, no peeling.”
Durability and timeless design mean you don’t have to replace a board every season. You can keep surfing the same one year after year.
The Bigger Picture
Longevity might not be as glamorous as chasing the next maneuver, but it’s what keeps you in the water. Longer rides, more years of surfing, and boards that hold up over time—that’s the real win.
Since our inception, we have been deeply inspired by the idea that the products we build today will be used and enjoyed for decades—and at beaches we will never see with our own eyes. I write this today while wearing a pair of boardshorts we make 12 years ago (still my favorite pair)
