Semi-Finless Pheasant
In January, I took the center fin out of my 6'6 Pleasant Pheasant and started surfing it with just the sidebites. It completely changes the approach to this board, and provides a semi-finless feel.
It's admittedly training-wheels for going fully finless, but it's a great way to start thinking in the correct terms when it comes to finding the pocket and generating speed strictly by using the line you draw on the face of the wave.
Jack Martin—ever an enthusiast of unique surfing crafts—took it a step further by ordering a 6'6 Pleasant Pheasant with no center box at all.
This board is designed to be finless, with only the single-tab sidebite plugs as a fall back.
I commend Jack for his bold move, and selfishly, I can't wait to see how he goes on this board.
