2016 Business Plan
I have to admit, I am excited about 2016 and the freshness of a new year. We are continually working to get smarter, and striving to do the little things better. Going into this year, we don't have massive mountains we are seeking to climb or dragons to slay. Those things make great polite conversation, but those things aren't our focus in 2016. We have gotten bigger and better each year that we have been in business (coming up on the 7-year anniversary of opening the retail store). In eight years, I think it is safe to say that I have experienced higher highs and lower lows than I would have ever guessed. Many of the details have changed: locations have changed, faces have changed, processes have changed, product has changed. But the things that matter are the big, over-arching defining characteristics: we want to educate our customers, we want to build lasting product, we want to make things we like/use/believe in, we want to make products responsibly and domestically. In addition to those core values, we want to make time for friends, surf together, do projects that aren't solely based around new products, and put out more surf clips.
We have some really great product in the works for this year. Our aim is to do fewer things, but do them better. Avoiding the temptation to think that more is always better. (Is it too obvious to say that better is always better?) As always, we are thankful to get to do this. Thankful to build surfboards and products in California, and to open the doors of our retail store each morning, to welcome you in.
